I have never written a book before, but I’d like to start. Can Alf Kalimah help?

For first-time/aspiring writers, we encourage you to join our weekly write-ins – our community meets up once a week for 3 hours to discuss writing technique and then actually write. In this community, you just might find the inspiration and motivation you need to start writing – and then complete – your book.

Can I join you if I’m writing in Arabic?

Yes, of course! Our community consists of both English and Arabic writers, and we do our best to have all our events and activities in both languages.

How often does the writer community meet up, and how do I join?

We meet up for our write-ins once a week – every Wednesday – from 6pm to 9pm. These write-ins are held at our partner venues, usually co-working spaces in Jeddah who sponsor us by providing us with space. To join our write-ins, register HERE. You will receive alerts and details on the write-ins as they are updated.

What should I bring or do at the weekly write-ins?

Bring your laptop or writing tools of choice. Be prepared to actually write, specifically 1,000 words, during our meetings! For 3 hours, we sit together, work on our own writing projects in silence, or discuss writing techniques with each other. You don’t have to participate in the discussions if you don’t like – bring your earphones and get writing!

I’ve completed a manuscript and I’m ready to publish. Can Alf Kalimah help?

Yes. Here’s the procedure:

  1. Make sure you have self-edited your manuscript – make sure it is in its best form!
  1. Take the best chapters OR the first 3 chapters of your manuscript and send it over to us. Our editors will take a look and give you feedback (e.g. if you need more editing, if there’s potential to your story, etc.).
  1. If your manuscript is promising, Alf Kalimah may offer to represent you as an author and pitch your book to publishers in the Kingdom or outside.
  1. If your manuscript needs more work, Alf Kalimah may advice you to consult with editors and make changes to your book before trying again.

Have a specific question? Contact us.

Do you offer editing services?

No. Alf Kalimah is a literary agency – we represent writers and find publishers who will pay them for their work. To do this, we review parts of your manuscript and give you feedback on how to get it published, based on the market

We do not edit, but we can connect you with editors who can help you.

Have a specific question? Contact us.

I’d like to give a writing workshop. How can Alf Kalimah assist me?

We help writing professionals organize and hold workshops, and promote them to our writer community. For more information on this, please contact us.
